New Year Resolution |

Who by choice let go and lost me
his heart he closed to cries and pleas
not again will ever find me
your selfishness is a disease.

Who I am
will never die
and to all that’s gone
I say ‘Goodbye’:

To those who tossed me
and then discarded–
to those who took
and then departed–
whomsoever did not love
and all of those who killed my doves.

Whosoever set out to hurt me
his heart he closed to turn mean
need not come to ever see me
your gratitude you smeared too lean.

Chucks n’ Ducks

Muscovy Duck and Muscovy Drake
waddled and wiggled around the lake
squawking and clucking lullabies
to cranky chicks chirping their cries.

Frolicking Fish

And the fish are swimming
and the whales are singing
in the ocean deep
as He keeps His eyes open
while His children sleep.
Arise!

Magnificent Michigan

There were breathtaking skies
and endless growing fields
where they lived in humble shelters
yielding God’s own will.

Holy Fire

Lightning flashed and thunder roared,
mountains spewed fire forth
seas heaved and winds blew north
and the earth shook her womb with thrusting force–
gliding over lips of weepers
over vales and further deeper.

וברק הבזיק בזעם רעם
הרים זרמו אש כפעם
הים נפץ רוחו צפונה
–ונזלה הארץ רחמה דרומה
וכך גלשו דמעות של בכי
ממעל על לעומקי הדכי

California Blazin’

In her dream one night she saw
fire on the hills
behind the moon the earth was burning
the air was full of chill.

She threw her head back in defiance
her neck stretched up and hard
her stare pierced the cloud of smoke
to see the land was chard.

She flew above the hills
beneath the earth grew red
she bowed her head with cry
her heart was full of dread.

She stood amidst the ashes
shackles on her soul
chained by time and sudden flashes
she bellowed out call.

Then she saw herself standing
by a gate so green
and when the doors open wide
she saw a sight unseen.

In her dreams one night she saw
herself wearing shrouds so white
and then her dream had turn dark
and dreary like the night.

Smokin’ Hot

Your eyes are like doves, my love,
your hair flock of goats,
your lips are crimson red
of pomegranate in oats,
your thighs are ivory white
and your neck gold and long
Oh, my beloved,
you are a lily among thorns.
