Last Sunday we went to visit the ORANGE COUNTY ART MUSEUM in Costa Mesa, California. The museum is located on the campus of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the same complex as Asaf’s office building, where he has a room with a view on the 12th floor, in his new position as trial attorney. Just call me Proud Momma.

The Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA) was founded in 1962 by thirteen visionary women artists as the Balboa Pavilion Gallery. Initially a small gallery, it evolved into the Newport Harbor Art Museum in 1968, and eventually became OCMA in 1997 in Santa Ana. Over the years OCMA has grown its collections, exhibitions, and support for local artists. Works from the collection are regularly rotated. Currently, on display are: ‘Yves Saint Laurent: Line and Expression’, ‘Color is the First Revelation of the World’, ‘A Moment in Time’, ‘A Moon for the Daydreamers’, ‘Lawrence Weiner: From the Sea to the Harbor’, and ‘Martin Creed: Work No. 3868 Half the air in a given space’.

The new Orange County Museum of Art building in Costa Mesa, was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Thom Mayne and his firm Morphosis. The 53,000-square-foot cutting-edge architectural landmark features stunning galleries, a state-of-the-art education center, and event spaces. The building has strategically placed windows and skylights which create an open, bright atmosphere. It is notable for its sculptural design and innovative materials, sustainability with energy-efficient systems and eco-friendly materials. https://ocma.art/
