Last night, the beautiful full moon hanging over Citrus Hills brought back memories of my beloved brother Ehud and the years I spent at his home high above Lake Hollywood, watching the moon glisten on the water and light up the hills.
Inspired by a post by David Proud and by the verse from Proverbs, “The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord,” this poem flowed.
FULL MOON OVER CITRUS HILLS
From my window I can see
the full moon rising over Citrus Hills
the night is warm, the air is clear
the crickets sing so close and near.
In the quiet breathing of the night
the darkened hills are bathed in light
I wonder if the moon has seen
when you passed beneath its beam.
It shone through windows long ago
tonight through mine I watch it glow
we live and die, yet still it lies
an ancient lantern in the skies.
And so your soul, when life was done
did not grow dark, but traveled on
perhaps you never did depart
because I feel you light my heart.
