When she was four years old
her teacher gave a party,
the children wore twig wreaths
their song was plain but hardy.
They dance around the room
holding hand in hand,
the teacher and the mother
joined the happy band.
She stood amongst her peers
and thanked them shy with gleam,
they lifted her up high
to touch the rafts and beams.
