I have seen a march of seagulls
in the early dusk of day
pecking starfish in the sand
mewing brightly as they sway.
I have seen a flock of pigeons
white and pearly flutter by
humming kahs n’ soft sad coos
fanning tails as they cry.
I have seen the sun grow big
then it sailed so far away
as the moon slowly sauntered
slim and silvery as she swayed.
Now I watch the Phoenix rising
as the day grows dark I pray
pray to rest as lovebirds nesting
with my true love at the bay.
