In the midst of a lockdown
sitting in a cage
my soul began to flutter
fast beyond her age.

She whispered voiceless chatters
deep inside my heart
she said,
‘See the future out there
and shoot out like a dart—
I do not want to stay here
I want a brand-new start
I cannot be so cooped up
I am falling fast apart —
I want to be alive
I want to tell new tales
to sing not just survive
to stand up strong as sails —
to fly free with winds
to love one and all
to see His Glory Come
to rhythms of my calls.’

I heard her clear inside me
a voice so far and faint
it moved me and shook me
to shed old stained restraints
I had to change my habits
my gloomy attitude
to see the light inside me
in my quiet solitude.
