She penned her love
with words dipped in diamonds
from a gem filled heart
still his soul remained
sullen.

So much said in so few words; given til nothing remains, emotionally stretched, empty. As brilliant as those diamonds.
I think he wanted the love with out all the adornments and garnish…just real love…the humble kind
from a modest heart. I really like this piece…could be taken several different ways.
You are such a terrific writer, Kira.

That is a perfect poem of modern Japanese art of poetry. Congratulations!
Papa Mama Jama – I closed my eyes after reading this most excellent poem, your use of imagery is fantastic, ‘sullen’ is a stroke of artistic inspiration, ‘love, diamonds…gem, heart’ contrasted ‘sullen’ perfectly… the picture of one person pouring their heart into the cup of a marble statue with aspirations to quicken a pulse from the statue, comes into my head…this is really thought provoking, poem, good job here
